Itzhak Perlman,  Maestro Haiti, and Dov Schmidt after a concert with the Haifa Youth Orchestra to which Dov donated some of his instruments. Dov's son Giora (at the back), a student of Mr. Perlman was the solo violinist.

Born in Israel, Dov Schmidt graduated from the Jerusalem Music Academy majoring in violin and conducting. He went on to study in England, Italy and Austria, and has conducted and performed in his native Israel, England, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Italy, Korea and the USA.

Dov developed a great passion for violin-making as a result of many visits to Italy. and through his friendship with Maestro Liutaio Francesco Bissolotti in Cremona. The Maestro also helped Dov appreciate the great qualities of instruments created during the recent revival of the classical method of violin making in that historic city.
